Captain's Table Project - Skysphere

Skysphere

This time, I wanted to make my own skyshpere. I made it first as an asset in 3Ds Max and then exported and imported it in Unreal Engine. (PS: You usually don't need to unwrap something such as a skysphere.) Then in Unreal, I made a new material with a very simple midnight blue flat colour texture which I plugged in the base colour in order to suggest the night.

After I made my skysphere, however, I encountered a strange issue. Basically, every time I would press play and try to spawn the default third person character in my scene, they would spawn in the air instead. No matter what I did, I couldn't get them to spawn anywhere near the box, not even after I moved it closer to where I thought they would spawn. So because I couldn't find a way to fix this myself, I asked one of my course mates who's amazing at tech art for help and she fixed it for me in no time - basically, it was a problem that my skysphere was creating because it had collision around it which was making my character slide across it and fall instead of going through it and spawn in the scene.

In addition to that, my course mate showed me how to very simply add a static player mesh at any place in my scene so that everytime I press play, my character would spawn there by default. Her help saved me so much time and I got to learn how to choose where I would like my character to spawn in any of my environments in the future.
